Red Roof In Hawaii by Jenny Floravita
Oil on canvas, 6" X 8"
Paintings can be purchased for $95 plus s/h: from the artist
What was interesting to me in this composition is the red roof against the lush greenery of flowers, bushes and trees. And, of course, the coconut palms rise out of the middle-tier greenery to tower above the scene.

Slice of Island Life
Oil on canvas, 6" X 6"
Paintings can be purchased for $95 plus s/h: from the artist
This painting especially makes me think of my upcoming trip to the North Shore of Oahu in January. Even during times when I'm just flowing with inspiration, like now, it's good to restore in the islands. It renews my innovative mind as I'm always looking for new angles and ideas.

Sweet Red Flower
Unsold paintings can be purchased for $95 plus $6 s/h: from the artist
Red heliconias are just so beautiful. I love the waxy, wispy shapes that grow up through the tropical foliage. These beautiful flowers are true favorites in the islands. And because of the bright, primary reds and primary yellows, I decided that I wanted to make the background like a soft focus wash of deep green, aqua blue and sun kissed lime.

Bird of Hope
Unsold paintings can be purchased for $95 plus $6 s/h: from the artist
The next series of paintings will be dedicated to my grandmother, who loved to garden in her time. I have many a memory of being with her and my great-grandmother, both of them tending to their vegetable garden and flowers in their yard behind the house. I remember the lath house that my grandfather built in which my Nanny would get all of her precious flowers started. I had my own little patch and usually they helped me grow something simple like green beans or strawberries out front. In the summer afternoons, I would go into the back and lounge on the swinging patio couch under the grape vines.
These women didn't grow exotics like I do. Bird of paradise flowers really weren't common to grow in their heyday but I know both of these full-blooded Italian women would love and appreciate the beauty of this flower.
